history

Founded in 1876 in Cowlairs , an area of Springburn, by workers from the Cowlairs Railway, the club played in Springvale Park between 1890 and 1895. It was on Cowlairs Road, east of the Cowlairs Railway Station.

The new site had a seating stand without a roof on the north side and a pavilion complex in the south-western corner. In 1893 a career was added.

Cowlairs was a founding member of the Scottish Football League , and the first league game was played on August 23, 1890 at Springburn Park against FC Vale of Leven . The game ended in a 3-2 win. The highest crowd in the league was 2500 when Cowlairs lost 5-0 to Celtic Glasgow on April 29, 1891 . There was a record attendance on October 27, 1894 when 6000 spectators saw a semi-final match in the Glasgow Cup against "Celtic".

After the club was relegated from the first division, relegation from Division Two followed at the end of the 1894/95 season . The last league game in Springvale Park was played on April 27, 1895 against the Dundee Wanderers which ended in a 2-1 victory.

The FC Cowlairs then went back to Goulay Park, where the club had already played between 1876 and 1890. In 1896 the association was dissolved.

The site of Springvale Park was later used to expand the surrounding sidings, which enabled direct connections between Glasgow Queen Street Station and Springburn .
