Charles William Martin (born October 25, 1828 in Rouen , † February 25, 1905 in Paris ) was a French sailor .

William Martin, who sailed for the Cercle de la Voile de Paris and the Yacht Club de France , took part in the 1900 Olympic Games in Paris , where he competed in five competitions. In the joint race, as a crew member of the Crabbe II, he failed to cross the finish line, while in the boat class 0.5 to 1 ton he made the podium twice. In the first race he finished second behind the Scotia from Great Britain and finished the second race behind the Pettit-Poucet and the Scamasaxe in third place. In all races, the crew also consisted of Jacques Baudrier, Jean Le Bret and Félix Marcotte , the boat was skippered by Jules Valton . Martin sailed as a crew member of the pirouette also in the boat class 3 to 10 tons , in which he finished the two races in sixth and seventh place respectively.
At 71, Martin was the oldest medalist in France in Olympic history.
