syringe  is a device that is used to inject liquids (e.g. jam ), to decorate cakes or to make shortbread cookies . It is also known as a pastry syringe or cake syringe.

construction

A syringe consists of a  cylindrical  cavity, a movable  piston  and a nozzle . A hollow needle or a nozzle can be connected to this. Common syringes nowadays are made of  plastic , previously made of sheet metal .

use

It is used in kitchens and pastry shops for  temper rolling  of  whipped cream  and creams,  mayonnaisemashed potatoes  and the like to mostly decorative purposes or for shaping and portioning. It is also used to inject jam into Berlin pancakes .

In contrast to the piping bag, using a syringe is more laborious.
