Stéphan Bignet (born June 29, 1971 in Speyer ) is a former French triathlete . He is an Olympian (2000) and multiple triathlon state champion.

Career

In 1993, Stéphan Bignet was French champion on the triathlon sprint distance.

The then 29-year-old started the first triathlon as part of the 2000 Summer Olympics and finished 31st in 1:51:12 h (Olympic distance: 1.5 km swimming, 40 km cycling and 10 km running).

In August 2007 he won the first edition of the Ironman 70.3 Germany (1.9 km swimming, 90 km cycling and 21.1 km running). At the ITU World Championship in the Netherlands in 2008 on the long-distance triathlon, he finished sixth behind his compatriot Julien Loy .

He has not appeared internationally since 2014.

Private

His younger brother Frank (* 1973) was also active as a triathlete and in 2003 - three years after Stéphan - also became the French short distance triathlon champion.
