Stéphane Plantin (born December 16, 1971 in Vitry-sur-Seine ) is a French handball coach and former handball player .

Career

as a player

The 1.82 m tall right wing player started in 1989 for the French club USM Gagny . In 1994, the left-hander moved to Toulouse Union Handball , with which he won the Coupe de France in 1998. In the 1998/99 European Cup Winners' Cup he reached the quarter-finals and the third round in the 2003/04 EHF Challenge Cup .

Plantin was on the French national team . Before the 2000 Olympic Games , he was the last player to be removed from the squad in favor of his rival on right winger, Stéphane Joulin . A year later he was nominated for the 2001 World Championship and went home as World Champion. In total, he played 72 international matches , in which he scored 168 goals.

as a trainer

Plantin first trained the French third division team Tournefeuille Handball. From summer 2014 he will head the second division Grand Nancy ASPTT HB.
