The Stùc a 'Chroin is a 975 meter high mountain in Scotland . Its Gaelic name means mountain of suffering or mountain of danger , according to other sources mountain of the sheepfold . It is located in the southern Highlands north of the town of Callander above the south bank of Loch Earn on the border between the Council Areas of Stirling and Perth and Kinross and is one of the Munros .

Due to its location on the southern edge of the Highlands, the Stùc a 'Chroin, like the neighboring Ben Vorlich, is one of the most famous Scottish mountains and popular with mountain hikers. It can be seen clearly from large parts of the Central Lowlands when the weather is nice . From its summit there is a wide view over the Lowlands to Edinburgh , but also to the parts of the Highlands to the west of the mountain. Usually the Stùc a 'Chroin is climbed together with its neighbor. The most popular ascent leads from Ardvorlich on the south bank of Loch Earn in about six hours over the Ben Vorlich and then the ridge that connects the two peaks, the lowest point of which is the Bealach an Dubh Choirein . In contrast to the neighboring Ben Vorlich, the Stùc a 'Chroin has a partially rocky summit structure, so its ascent over the ridge ultimately requires some easy rock climbing. Other ascent routes lead from Loch Lubnaig to the west to the summit.
