history

Church floor plan
Inside the rotunda

The church was built between 1680 and 1685 by order of the royal intendant Jean-Jacques de Mesmes and partly at his expense. The plan came from a “Monsieur Fleury” and the Dominican Brother François Romain from Maastricht . There is speculation about a co-authorship of Guarino Guarini . The church was restored in 1733, from 1865, 1994, 2001 and 2008/09.

construction

The church, made entirely of bricks, is 44.82 m long and has the shape of a rotunda on the base of a pentagon in the east, which is covered by a flat dome and surrounded by a column wreath with niche chapels. A colonnade adjoins it to the west , which is concave and supports a three-storey domed tower. In front of it is a vestibule with an oval floor plan.
