St. George's Chapel

The St. Georg dedicated to St. George's Chapel was in a basement vault of the 1998 Francke Foundations in Halle (Saale) furnished. The cellar vault in House 24 of the foundations is of baroque origin and is characterized by a remarkable cross vault. The chapel is u. a. used by the Evangelical Konvikt Halle for church services and regular prayer. Furthermore, the Old Catholic community uses the chapel for their services. Other users are the Theological Faculty Halle , which it uses for seminary services, and services are also held regularly in English.

The chapel was named in memory of the St. Georgen congregation, the first congregation of August Hermann Francke in Glaucha. Opposite the chapel is the Orthodox house church . Symbolically there is a baptismal font between the house church and the chapel, which reminds of the bond of unity that was founded in Jesus Christ (see also the declaration on the mutual recognition of baptism in Magdeburg 2007).
