The construction of the Lausick St. Kilians Church began under Count Wiprecht von Groitzsch and was designed as a Romanesque basilica with three naves . The size of the building, which was initially carried out without a tower under the supervision of the Pegau Benedictine monastery, was intended as a central church for the surrounding villages of the new settlers from Franconia , whose patron saint Kilian also gave the church its name.

In 1523 the community elected a Protestant pastor and a little later had the church added with a tower. This was replaced in the 18th century, the church was painted in Baroque style and the aisles were equipped with groin vaults . Porphyry from Rochlitz was used for the west portal .

In 1920 the church was supplemented by a winged altar from 1490 from the church in the village of Witznitz near Borna , which had been abandoned in the course of open-cast lignite mining. During the restoration from 1955 to 1957, the church was largely returned to its original state.

The church is equipped with an organ by Gottfried Silbermann , which he originally built with a manual for the Johanniskirche in Chemnitz in 1722 . After moving into a new building of St. John's Church in 1772, it was in 1791 by Johann Gottlob Trampeli by installing a second manual with eight registers extended. The organ was sold to Auligk near Pegau in 1879 , where minor modifications were made in the same year. The pitch was modernized in 1940. The instrument was moved to Bad Lausick on the occasion of the renovation of St. Kilian in 1957. In 1988 the Eule company from Bautzen largely adapted it to the choir tuning intended for the construction .
