The house at St.-Michael-Straße 57 is a listed residential building in the Magdeburg district of Sudenburg in Saxony-Anhalt .

It is located on the south side of St.-Michael-Straße at its eastern end in a corner at the confluence with Rottersdorfer Straße. To the west of the house is the also listed building at St.-Michael-Straße 56a .

Architecture and history

The three-storey building was built in 1886 in the neo-renaissance style . The construction was carried out by the master mason Marquardt for the carter Carl Ziebke . The facade of the brick-built house has a representative design. There is rustication on the ground floor . The window openings on the upper floors are decorated with windows adikulä , which are provided with half-columns and pilasters . Above the windows of the main floor there are lunettes with fan motifs.

The corner location of the house is emphasized with a polygonal design of the floor plan in this area. Shops are located on the ground floor.

In the local register of monuments , the house is listed under registration number 094 71419 as a monument .

As part of the ensemble around the Sankt-Marien-Kirche, the building is considered significant in terms of urban development. The building is of urban and architectural significance as an example of the development of the district at the time of industrialization in the last quarter of the 19th century. The contrast to the simple facade of the older, late Classicist neighboring building at St.-Michael-Straße 56a zu is remarkable.
