history

The St. The statue depicting Johannes Nepomuk was created at the end of the 18th century and is located on the monastery bridge over the Franconian Saale . The base stands on an old pillar of the bridge. Inscriptions on the monument are missing. The sandstone figure of the saint is 1.70 m high.

A Wehrmacht soldier billeted in Hausen during the Second World War is said to have shot the back of the head of the St.Nepomuk statue in 1939 and was later shot in the head during the Russian campaign . Another variant of this tradition speaks of a hand shot.

Once there was a wayside shrine on the bridge railing opposite the statue. When the bridge was blown up on April 7, 1945 during the Second World War, the statue and wayside shrine were hurled into the hall. The statue, but not the wayside shrine, was subsequently recovered.

In the 1980s the monument was restored.
