St. Wendel Marathon

The St. Wendel Marathon (official name Globus-Marathon St. Wendel after the title sponsor Globus SB-Warenhaus Holding ) is a marathon in St. Wendel that has been taking place since 2007. The organizer is the city of St. Wendel. The program also includes a half marathon .

The flat, paved route, measured according to the standards of the German Athletics Association, runs through the city of St. Wendel and some of its districts. The start and finish is in Bahnhofstrasse on Schlossplatz in the center of Sankt Wendel. From there, the route leads first to the first turning point in Werkstrasse, then onto federal road 41 , on which one crosses Oberlinxweiler and Niederlinxweiler in a southerly direction until one reaches the second turning point, and finally north to the Urweiler district , in which the third and final turning point is located. About 100 meters before the finish, the half marathon runners turn right towards the finish, while the marathon runners can complete the route a second time or decide on the half marathon ranking.

The route is very spectator-friendly because of its turning points; At every point along the route, the runners can be seen at least twice, the marathoners even four times.
