Urweiler is a district and municipality of the city of St. Wendel in the district of the same name in Saarland . Until the end of 1973 Urweiler was an independent municipality.

The place is at the foot / west of the Bosenberg . The core of Urweiler is shaped by the Catholic parish church that was created from a war memorial chapel (consecrated July 14, 1935).

history

The first known documentary mention of Urweiler (as "orwilre") can be found in a document dated November 24, 1367 in the parish archive of St. Wendel.

As part of the regional and administrative reform in Saarland , the previously independent municipality of Urweiler was assigned to the district town of Sankt Wendel on January 1, 1974.
