St. Albanus (Großrudestedt)
The Protestant village church of St. Albanus is located in the community of Großrudestedt in the Sömmerda district in Thuringia .
location
There are listed houses around the village church. Together they shape the village center with trees and the cemetery .
history
The church tower comes from a previous building from the 15th century and has an angular pointed helmet . In 1724 the nave with a polygonal choir closure, transept-like additions to the choir and mansard roof was built. The uniformly designed baroque interior was given two-story galleries with built-in boxes and a wooden mirror vault.
Furnishing
- Gothic winged altar from 1487, in the center shrine with the coronation of Mary , in the side wings, figures of apostles , deacons and female saints , under the carved altar canopies .
- pulpit
- Baptismal font from 1724 in the form of a cup.
organ
The organ , which is mounted high under the ceiling on the second gallery , was built in 1907 by the well-known organ building company EF Walcker & Cie , Ludwigsburg and is still unchanged. In 2017, a support association was founded to restore the organ.
