The Church of St. Albertus Magnus a Roman Catholic parish church of the Archdiocese of Munich-Freising in Ottobrunn . It is located in the southwest of the community in the residential area "An der Otto column" and bears the patronage of Saint Albertus Magnus .

history

With the development of the residential area “An der Otto pillar” in the southwest of the municipality of Ottobrunn and the massive increase in population at the beginning of the 1970s, the establishment of a third parish church in the municipality became necessary. For this reason, the pastoral care center "Ottobrunn III - Otto Column" was founded in 1971 on behalf of Julius Cardinal Döpfner and the first services were held in a makeshift wooden barracks. The foundation stone for the new parish center was laid on March 20, 1974 and on July 31 of the same year the first service was celebrated in the shell of the church. The inauguration by Joseph Cardinal Ratzinger , later Pope Benedict XVI. took place on October 2, 1977. Saint Albertus Magnus was chosen as the patronage.

Building description

The simple building combines a large church space and the parish center under one roof. From the outside, the roughly plastered building can only be recognized as a sacred building through a wall raised to a bell gable . Immediately next to the bell gable is the set-back main entrance to the church.

The church space itself is designed as a wide open space in accordance with the Second Vatican Council , the sloping wooden ceiling of which rises sharply towards the broad altar wall. Thick oak beams support the ceiling, which is pierced by skylights, and are braced together with steel rods. On the left there is a spacious organ and music gallery. The parish center adjoins the church building to the northeast at a right angle.

Strohmer organ

The organ of the parish church is in a corner of the gallery and was built by Rudolf Strohmer in 1980. The instrument has fully mechanical slide chests as well as 17 stops on two manuals and pedal . The free-standing console is in an unusual position for the organ, rotated by 90 ° in the far corner of the gallery. This setup could only be solved mechanically by a so-called cable traction, in which no wooden abstracts but thin wire ropes are used for power transmission. The disposition is as follows:
