St. Anna in Todtnau-Afersteg

St. Anna is a Catholic branch church in the Aftersteg district of Todtnau . The church with its own bell tower , built in the neo-Romanesque style at the beginning of the 20th century, is the smallest church in the Lörrach district due to its dimensions.

history

The Church of St. Anna was built between 1909 and 1910 according to plans by Raimund Jeblinger. It replaced the baroque St. Nicholas Chapel around 1775. Some of the wall parts of this predecessor with the roof turret and onion hood were even older. Between 1950 and 1955 the bell tower was renovated and a sacristy was added in the corner between it and the choir . After a renovation in the 1960s, the church had to be dehumidified between 1981 and 1984 and renovated from the outside.

description

Church building

The Aftersteg district is located on the connecting road between Todtnau and Notschrei. The church of St. Anna is located in the northern part of the village at an altitude of 781 meters. The church consists of a 13.95 x 6.35 meters Rechtecksbau with hipped roof and an east grown to 17.35 meter high tower with gable roof . The dimensions of the nave are more like a small chapel. This makes it the smallest church with a separate bell tower , which is also the lowest. Below the roof, the tower has three rectangular sound arcades on each side , underneath is the clock face of the tower clock. Both the tower and the nave have protruding natural stones in the base area on the otherwise lightly plastered facade, which continue to form corner cuboids at the edges.

Equipment and interior

Interior with a view of the altar

The interior is drawn in with a flat ceiling. There is a small gallery above the entrance . The nave and choir are connected by a round-arched triumphal arch , in the niches of which a statue of Joseph with angle iron (130 centimeters high) is set up on the right and a third Anna herself (110 centimeters high) on the left. In the choir is a valuable rococo altar from the middle of the 18th century. This was probably reworked from an original baroque altar by the Schönau carver Franz Joseph Beckert. The altar contains three figures: in the middle stands above a blue canopy Mary with the baby Jesus (85 centimeters high), to the side are the figures of St. Nicholas and Wendelin (each 55 centimeters high).
