St. Anthony of Padua (Essentho)
St. Anthony of Padua is a Roman Catholic parish church in the Marsberg village of Essentho . She belongs to the Archdiocese of Paderborn . Church patron is Anthony of Padua . The church is registered in the list of monuments of the city of Marsberg .
History and architecture
The simple hall building in the arched style was built from 1847 to 1848 according to a design by August Soller from hammer-right quarry stone. The semicircular apse has been drawn in, the tower top has been raised above the west portal . The bell storey of the tower was added in 1890.
Furnishing
- The wooden column retable in rococo forms was made in the middle of the 18th century. It comes from the Capuchin Church in Niedermarsberg.
- The octagonal baptismal font is marked 1580. It bears the names of donors.
- The baroque organ front is a work from around 1700, it was previously in the St. Magnus Church in Niedermarsberg.
- Some figures of saints and angels were carved in the 18th century.
