St. Elisabeth is a Roman Catholic branch church in Eckersmühlen .

history

After the Second World War, many expellees from Hungary moved to Eckersmühlen. At first they celebrated their services in a chapel on the Lösmühle and in the Evangelical Trinity Church . In 1951 a barrack was set up as an emergency church at the village basin. The local small animal breeders' association was housed in the extension . In 1959 a church building association was founded on the initiative of Dean Thomas Igl. The construction of the church was initially planned for 1967, but was postponed for two years due to the bad economy . The church was designed by the architect Ferdinand Reubel from Nuremberg . The foundation stone was laid on May 4, 1969 by cathedral dean Bernhard Mader . On November 16, 1969, the day of penance and prayer , the bells were consecrated by Vicar General Josef Pfeiffer . On November 23, 1969, Bishop Alois Brems consecrated the church of St. Elisabeth of Thuringia . The construction costs amounted to DM 883,000. The harmonium, which was taken over from the emergency church, was replaced by an organ on November 21, 1971. On December 1, 1991, the parish of Hilpoltstein was re- parished in Roth after Maria Assumption in Heaven .
