St. Hubertus is the Roman Catholic parish church of Wolsfeld in the Eifel district of Bitburg-Prüm in Rhineland-Palatinate . The church is dedicated to St. Dedicated to Hubertus of Liège .

history

There was a chapel in Wolfsfeld as early as the 12th century. Today's old parish church Alt St. Hubertus emerged from this chapel . Wolsfeld was a branch of the Alsdorf parish until 1803 and became an independent parish that year .

In the first half of the 20th century the old parish church became too small due to the increased population and it was decided to build the current parish church on Europastraße. The Trier architect Peter Marx was commissioned to plan the new building . In 1923 construction could finally begin and in 1926 the church was completed.

architecture

St. Hubertus is a single-nave quarry stone building in the style of neoclassicism with a semicircular closed choir . The interior is spanned by a coffered ceiling. The bell tower has a curved dome and is attached to the north wall of the choir.

Furnishing

Inside there is a tabernacle altar from 1812 in the Louis-seize style and a baptismal font from 1807, both of which were taken from the old church. The 14 stations of the cross , the confessional and the reliefs of saints in the organ gallery date from the 1920s and 30s.
