St. Isidor Bachum

St. Isidor is a Roman Catholic chapel built in the 1920s with neo-baroque style elements in Bachum , a district of the city of Arnsberg . The chapel is under the patronage of Isidore of Madrid .

history

Bachum originally belonged to the quite distant parish of St. Petri Hüsten . The pastor from Hüsten held services there only sporadically. Since 1870, the residents tried to re- parish to the parish Vosswinkel . However, this did not happen until 1912. In 1985 the parish to St. Joseph Bergheim followed .

A small chapel had been added to the school in Bachum since 1889. In the 1920s, a church building association was founded to build a larger chapel in the village. The construction was carried out with baroque style elements around 1926/1927. An organ stage was added in 1930. An organ was installed in place of a harmonium in 1969 .

The first renovation and reconstruction of the chancel took place in 1970. Instead of the two steel bells donated by the Bochum Association in 1948 , two new bells were cast in 2007. Another renovation followed in 1993 and investments were made in 2012 to modernize the interior.

The chapel is entered together with a crossroads in the list of monuments of the city of Arnsberg (DL 343).
