The St. Jakob Tower is a 71 meter high skyscraper in Basel that was built between 2005 and 2008 . The tower was built parallel to the expansion of the St. Jakob-Park football stadium and is used for offices and 37 high-standard apartments.
history
The building application for the St. Jakob Tower was submitted in 2004. The planning lasted from until 2006. The foundation stone was laid on November 16, 2006 and it was officially opened in October 2008 after a two-year construction period .

location
The St. Jakob Tower is located in the immediate eastern neighborhood of St. Jakob Park in the St. Alban district , in the immediate vicinity of the Muttenz city limits .
Both the Basel-Zurich railway line, which also carries dangerous goods, and the A2 motorway run north of it. Due to its location and its very individual design, the building thus has the function of a city gate that can be seen from afar.
architecture
The architectural form is reminiscent of a rock crystal , the glass facade also of a greenhouse . The builders of the St. Jakob-Tower were the Basel-based companies Real Estate Fund UBS Sima, the Kestenholz Group and the St. Jakob-Park Stadium Cooperative. Due to the motorway and railway line running to the north, the apartments face south and are located at the top of the high-rise. Freely dividable office zones occupy the building on the upper floors 5 to 13.
