The Roman Catholic Church of St. Jakob is located in the Walchensee district of Kochler in the Upper Bavarian district of Bad Tölz-Wolfratshausen . The listed church is part of the parish of St. Ulrich Walchensee in the Benediktbeuern deanery of the Augsburg diocese . The address is Seestraße 58, 82432 Walchensee .

history

As early as 1291, a house of God was consecrated on the site of today's church. The current building was built in 1633 according to plans by Lukas Zais and redesigned by Markus Hainz from 1712 to 1714, including acanthus stucco. The patronage of James the Elder indicates that a pilgrimage route to the tomb of this apostle led here .

In 1955 it was decided to build a new church in Walchensee in addition to the St. Jacob's Church, as the population growth after the Second World War had made it too small. With the consecration of the new St. Ulrich church , it became the new parish church of Walchensee.

Description and equipment

The east- facing baroque hall church has a slightly rounded apse and the church tower in the east.

In the church there are gold-framed depictions of the 14 Stations of the Cross , which were probably made in the 18th century based on Augsburg templates. The high altar dates from 1780.
