The Roman Catholic parish church of St. Ulrich is located in the Walchensee district of Kochler in the Upper Bavarian district of Bad Tölz-Wolfratshausen . The listed building is located in the Benediktbeuern deanery of the Augsburg diocese . The address is Ringstrasse 9, 82432 Walchensee .

history

In 1955, it was decided to build a new church in Walchensee in addition to the old St. Jakobs Church , as the population growth after the Second World War had made it too small. Due to the 1000th anniversary of the battle on the Lechfeld taking place at that time , in which St. Ulrich von Augsburg played a decisive role, it was decided to put the new church building under his patronage . Construction took place from 1958 to 1960 according to plans by the Austrian architect Clemens Holzmeister . The external appearance with the steep roof and the roof turret is deliberately reminiscent of that of the nearbyKlösterls ajar.

In 2010, the chancel, which had been rebuilt in the meantime, was returned to the originally planned state for the 50th anniversary. In the summer of 2015, after a two-year construction period, a new organ was inaugurated by the Ettal Abbot Barnabas Bögle .

Description and equipment

The modern hall church has a steep hipped roof with a roof turret. The interior is characterized by the vestibules indicated by the walls and the open roof structure . Colorful glass windows are worked into the white wall surfaces.

Side chapel

There is a portrait of Mary in a side chapel .

The organ by Andreas Offner from Kissing has 1072 sounding pipes in 17 registers on two manuals and pedal .

Church bells were not installed in the roof turret, instead they were positioned on the opposite peninsula of Zwergern on the slope a little above the Klösterl in a bell house, so that their sound can be easily heard in the village. The four bells sound in g, b, c and es.
