Construction and equipment
In front of the simple hall building made of limestone there is an equally bricked, transverse rectangular west tower, which probably served as a defensive tower in the Middle Ages and is likely to date from the 12th century. Traces of older windows can be seen on the north side, today's ones go back to a baroque renovation and were reshaped again during a Gothic renovation in the 19th century. The timbered upper storey of the tower was given its current shape in 1590. In 1848 (dating on the south portal) the interior was redesigned.
During a renovation around 1896, the pulpit altar by the Einbeck sculptor Heinrich Ruprecht from the mid-17th century was removed, the remains of which include the figures of Moses and John the Baptist under the crucifix on today's altar and James the Elder on the north wall. The picture of the Last Supper from this ensemble was given to the Göttingen Municipal Museum .
Behind the prospectus from 1856 is an organ work that was reassembled in 1982 from various older parts. Two bells were cast in 1927 and 1965, and the stained glass windows around the chancel were made in the late 19th century.
