David A. Prior

David A. Prior (born October 5, 1955 in Newark , New Jersey , † August 16, 2015 in Mobile , Alabama ) was an American film producer , director and screenwriter .

Life

Prior's father was stand-up comedy and his mother was stage assistant to magician Harry Blackstone . He grew up with two siblings in middle-class circumstances . When he was nine years old, his parents divorced. His brother was the actor and bodybuilder Ted Prior .

In the early 1980s he began writing screenplays and his first directorial work. Shortly afterwards he also took over the production of his films. His works are generally considered to be B-movies and low-budget films . His brother Ted Prior has had a cast in many films. The location of the films was mostly Mobile in Alabama. As a director and screenwriter, he is responsible for more than 30 productions.

He died of complications from cancer .
