Ted Prior

Ted Prior (born August 9, 1959 in Newark , New Jersey ) is an American actor and bodybuilder .

Life

Prior grew up with two siblings as the son of a stand-up comedy and a stage assistant to the magician Harry Blackstone in a middle-class situation . His brother was the filmmaker David A. Prior . When he was five years old, his parents divorced. He moved to Baltimore with his mother and stepfather , where his stepfather worked as an art teacher and his mother as a seamstress for local theater companies. Through his mother's contacts, Prior soon began to appear as a supporting actor in the theater. Because of this experience, he decided to become a professional actor. Prior has been bodybuilding since he was 15. At the age of 19, he won the Teenage Mr. Maryland award . Prior was married to bodybuilder and actress Raye Hollitt , with whom he has a daughter.

He started his acting career in the early 1980s. Due to his muscular figure, he initially portrayed bodybuilders or soldiers in supporting roles. Only in the films of his brother David A. Prior did he cast leading roles, mostly in action films . Through several roles in B-movie action films, he earned a reputation as a B-action film actor . For the first time in 1984 and in the following years he was pictured as a nude model in Playgirl .
