The church

The Protestant village church of St. Johannes Baptista is located in the Ramsla district of the rural community Am Ettersberg in the Weimarer Land district in Thuringia . It belongs to the parish association of Ramsla in the Weimar parish of the Evangelical Church in Central Germany .

The church and the churchyard are in the middle of the village, the road passes to the west.

history

The village church was first mentioned in a document in 1119. The church was rebuilt in the 14th or 15th century. It was destroyed again in later years. In 1697 it was rebuilt in its current form.

Furnishing

The paintings from 1702 in the barrel vault and on the parapet of the lower gallery depict scenes from the life of Jesus . On the lower southern gallery there is a glazed mansion box. The two coats of arms above the lodge indicate the Augustinian canons who had taken over the religious service in Ramsla from Ettersburg monastery until 1525.

On the pulpit wall is a painting of John the Baptist baptizing Jesus. In addition, the wall is richly decorated with colored angel heads, fruits and other jewelry.

organ

The organ, which was built by Gebr. Poppe in 1889 , is playable.
