history

In 1940 a half-timbered house was bought as a rectory in Bevensen, a Protestant Protestant since the Reformation in the 16th century (since 1976 "Bad Bevensen"). At that time Bevensen belonged to the parish of Uelzen.

As a result of the Second World War , the number of Catholics in Bevensen increased significantly due to the influx of refugees and displaced persons from the eastern regions of the German Empire . In 1946 the parish vicarie Bevensen-Medingen was established. On May 12, 1957, the foundation stone for the church was laid behind the rectory, and on December 1 of the same year its benediction by Bishop Heinrich Maria Janssen took place . Therese von Lisieux became secondary patroness . On April 1, 1959, Bevensen became an independent parish. In 1983 the parsonage was demolished because it was in disrepair and replaced by the parish hall that stands in front of the church. On January 1, 1988, the parish was elevated to a parish.

Since 2007 the 'Förderverein der kath. Church St. Joseph Bad Bevensen eV 'maintains the church. Since November 1, 2006, the church has belonged again to the parish of 'To the Divine Redeemer' in Uelzen, the parish of Bad Bevensen was dissolved.

Architecture and equipment

The church, located around 30 meters above sea level , was built according to plans by Josef Fehlig , designed as a nave construction with a turret . Pictorial representations show the crucifixion group above the entrance door and the sacrificial lamb on the back wall of the sanctuary .
