history

In 1272 there is documentary evidence that Eppstein donated a chapel in Seelenberg to the Retters monastery . Later excavations uncovered the foundations of two former St. Otmar chapels.

The Mainz canon Count Casimir Ferdinand Waldbott von Bassenheim had the Holy Blood Church built. The consecration of the church took place on October 5, 1711 by the Mainz auxiliary bishop Johann Edmund Gedult von Jungsfeld . Later it was rededicated to the St. Casimir Church.

In 1874 the church received an organ with 11 registers. The organ was built by the Igstadt master organ builder Christian Friedrich Voigt . The organ was last overhauled in 1998.

In 1950 the church received two new bells.

The Walldürner Kreuz has been a destination for pilgrimages for centuries. Today the pilgrimages are limited to the nearby Feldberg area. The coat of arms of the Bassenheim family is shown above the church portal

In 1953 the rectory was built. From 1946 Josef Putzer was vicar in Seelenberg.
