St. Linus Lando is a Roman Catholic parish church in Delbrücker district Boke in the district of Paderborn , North Rhine-Westphalia . Structurally, the church and parish belong to the Boke-Ostenland pastoral network in the Büren-Delbrück dean's office in the Archdiocese of Paderborn . The parish also includes the subsidiary churches St. Josef in Anreppen and St. Dionysius in Bentfeld. The patron saint of the church is the founder of the monastery, Landelin von Crespin .

history

The church was probably built in the 12th century. According to recent archaeological investigations, it can be assumed that a church already existed in Boke. When the Paderborn bishop Badurad had the relics of Saint Liborius fetched from Le Mans in 836 , the bones of Landelin von Crespin from the Crespin monastery were also brought to Boke. In 1101 the founding of a Benedictine monastery was recorded, which had these relics. A short time later it was relocated to Flechtdorf.

From 1880 to 1891 the church was expanded to include a transept and a choir with an apse. In 1921 the church received a larger west portal.

In 1961 the interior of the church was renovated. Fragments of Romanesque wall and vault paintings were exposed. An exterior renovation followed in 1989, during which the view of the quarry stone walls was retained.

Building description

The parish church is a Romanesque vaulted basilica, which was probably built in the 12th century. The nave, aisles and the west tower date from this period. The church was built from rubble stones.

The central nave has two bays, which are spanned by a cross vault. In the east, the transept and the choir are closed off by an apse . The aisles north and south of the nave are lower. The vaults are only half the depth of the vaults in the nave and are spanned by groin vaults.

Furnishing

The oldest piece in the church is the Romanesque font from the 13th century. It has a cylindrical shape and is adorned with images of the twelve apostles and the baptism of Jesus. The figurative decorations include a Pietà (around 1430) and a double Madonna with a halo (around 1700). A sandstone relief depicting Jesus in the grave (around 1560) and the baroque organ are also part of the furnishings.

Remains of the church's earlier painting have been preserved on the tympanum of the south portal.

Relics of St. Landelinus

The relics of St. Landelin are in a golden shrine in the south transept of the church.

Bells

The parish church has three bells. The oldest is from 1669.
