Filial church of St. Laurentius

history

In 804 Atto , the bishop of the Freising diocese, requested the return of twelve baptismal churches from the Tegernsee monastery , including the one in Etzenhausen, which at that time was still called Zezinhusir. The church was listed in the Konradin register in 1315 as a branch church of St. Jakob in Dachau.

The current church tower with a gable roof , located on the north side of the choir, and the chancel were built around 1500 in a late Gothic style, the five-bay nave of the nave dates from the 17th century. The patron saint Laurentius consecrated altar was built around 1623. It was from 1740 Nicholas Prugger revised and received its present appearance between 1740 and 1750 caused by Bartholomew Schuhpaur created altar figures Barbara and Katharina , the altarpiece of Franz Mayr from 1750 shows the martyrdom of St. Lawrence. The rococo-style ceiling stucco was added in 1735. Various Dachau artists such as Johann Georg Hörmann , Anton Huber , Richard Huber and Ludwig von Herterich contributed to the design and renovation of the church interior over the years. The windows in the chancel were created around 1912 and were donated by local farmers. The pulpit of the church was not reached by a staircase, but only by a ladder because of the little space available and was removed in 1934.

In 1910, the iron bell cage was renewed; of the three bells brought in that year, one donated has been preserved, the other two were melted down during the First World War. The bells cast as replacements in Erding in 1921 suffered the same fate during World War II. In 1950 and 1952, the current bells for the St. Laurentius Church were cast in Erding.
