Laurentiuskirche Usenborn

The Protestant St. Laurentius Church is one of two Protestant churches in Usenborn . The church, which was still Romanesque in the choir, was dedicated to St. Lawrence of Rome .

history

The patronage refers to a foundation around the year 1000. The mother church was in Glauburg .

The first documentary mention comes from the year 1407, when the Selbold monastery acquired the ownership of the churches and chapels of Bleichenbach , Düdelsheim , Glauburg, Konradsdorf , Oberau , Ortenberg , Rohrbach , Selters and Usenborn.

architecture

The simple " hall building with a canopy roof turret" is equipped with a Romanesque gate to the churchyard. This gives the ensemble the character of a fortified church .

Furnishing

Wall paintings in the choir date from the 14th century. A representation of St. Lawrence can be found in the ribbed vault.

"The stone sacrament house on the east wall resembles ... that of the Ortenberg church."

The pulpit bears the year 1608.
