St. Maria in Grochwitz

The Evangelical Lutheran village church of St. Maria is in the Grochwitz district of the city of Schleiz in the Saale-Orla district in Thuringia .

The small rectangular church received its current appearance in the 17th and 18th centuries. Century. It has a polygonal east end and is spanned by a hipped roof with a narrow, slender roof turret.

The interior of the church has a flat ceiling and galleries from the 19th century and a stained glass window .

In the church tower , a bell with an inscription from 1489 indicates the age of the chapel. This is also indicated by the walled-up pointed arch windows of the church. There is a need for renovation.
