The Roman Catholic Chapel of St. Maria is located in Karlins , a district of Böhen in the Unterallgäu district in Bavaria . The chapel is a listed building.

Building description

The small chapel was built in the early 18th century. In 1935 the chancel collapsed and was subsequently enlarged and rebuilt. The building consists of plastered quarry stone masonry. The retracted sanctuary consists of one axis and is closed on three sides. The nave with a flat ceiling consists of two window axes. The nave contains arched windows, but the entrance is arched . The western outer facade is paneled with wood. The gable is crowned by an octagonal wooden roof turret with an onion dome.

Furnishing

The altar consists of a marbled wooden structure and was created at the beginning of the 18th century. The altarpiece is a replica of Raphael's Sistine Madonna and dates from the first half of the 19th century. The pews in the chapel are made of softwood and date from the 18th century. There are a number of wooden figures in the chapel. For example, the copy of Our Lady of Altötting from the end of the 18th century, as well as busts of Saints Theodor and Alexander from the 18th century. An unmounted crucifix dates from the late 18th century .
