history

Until the church is planted

The first known mention of Bohemia is in the Chronicum Ottobuarum (created around 1180). In the handwritten chronicle, when the Ottobeuren monastery was founded in 746, Behaim is mentioned among other places as an alleged endowment. The truth of the matter is uncertain due to the lack of original documents, but this ensures that Böhen existed for a long time in 1180.

Bohen belonged to the imperial monastery Ottobeuren. Since the Reichsdeputationshauptschluss of 1803 the place belongs to Bavaria. In the course of the administrative reforms in the Kingdom of Bavaria , today's municipality was created with the municipal edict of 1818 .

The Roman Catholic parish church of St. George is located in Böhen, the origins of which date back to the 15th century. The nave was expanded towards the beginning of the 20th century.

coat of arms

The coat of arms was approved by the government of Swabia on April 6, 1983.

Blazon : "Two shortened green tips in silver, on which a slanted golden abbot's staff is placed, covered by a wave pole in confused colors."

The municipality's coat of arms reminds in heraldically simplified form of the geographical location of the municipality in the hilly landscape of the western Günz and its tributaries. The community area belonged to the original property of the imperial monastery Ottobeuren, which should be clarified by the abbot's staff.

The design of the coat of arms comes from the monastery archivist and district home administrator Aegidius Kolb and the design was done by Max Reinhart from Passau.

The flag is yellow - green - white (1: 1: 1) striped with the municipal coat of arms.
