coat of arms
Blazon : “Split of black and silver with a lowered wave bar in mixed up colors; in front a two-armed forked (twelve-pointed) silver cross, behind a rooted green deciduous tree. "
The forked double cross represents the coat of arms of the Memminger Oberhospital (monastery of the order of the Kreuzherren). The Kreuzherren have been patrons of the church since 1296. In 1444 they also brought the town of Oberholzgünz into their possession. The rooted deciduous tree “speaks” for the place name. At the same time, it reminds of the time before the chapel was built in 1748 in Schwaighausen, when the faithful worshiped outdoors under a tree. The wave bar refers to the Kohbach, which flows through all three districts (Oberholzgünz, Unterholzgünz and Schwaighausen) as a connecting element of the community. The design of the coat of arms comes from the monastery archivist and district home administrator Aegidius Kolb and the design was done by Max Reinhart from Passau. The coat of arms was approved by the government of Swabia on July 29, 1986 . |
