About this picture
Ungerhausen from the north

Ungerhausen is a municipality in the Swabian district of Unterallgäu and a member of the Memmingerberg administrative community .

geography

Ungerhausen is about eight kilometers east of Memmingen in the Donau-Iller region in Central Swabia .

The municipality consists only of the Ungerhausen district . The Ungerhauser Wald is a municipality-free area and does not belong to the municipality.

history

Until the church is planted

Ungerhausen emerged from a Maierhof; the first houses were built on the Hungerbach. There are said to have been about fifteen buildings, plus a Gothic church, whose choir from the 15th century still stands in the open as St. John's Chapel about 500 m southwest of the village.
In 972 the village was first mentioned in a document with the name "Husen". Secure source material for the ownership structure in Ungerhausen is only provided by the documents of the 14th century, which reveal a planned acquisition policy of the Memmingen hospital. In 1430 the upper hospital acquired the bailiff from the tithe and the Widdum . Between 1415 and 1466 the Ottobeuren monastery was also established in Ungerhausen. The imperial city of Memmingen was temporarily the ruler of the village, which in 1503 passed into the possession of the patrician family Vöhlin for almost a century . In 1594 Ottobeuren acquired the village of Ungerhausen with all lower judicial rights for 55,200 guilders .
About two dozen rural properties in the village have existed since around 1600, several since the 17th and 18th. Century. The old parish church of St. Johann Baptist was demolished in 1733 except for the late medieval choir. The foundation stone for the new building according to the plan by Simpert Kraemer was laid in 1734. The church was consecrated four years later. Since the Reichsdeputationshauptschluss of 1803 the place belongs to Bavaria. In 1818 the political municipality was founded.

coat of arms

The coat of arms was approved by the government of Swabia on May 11, 1984.

Blazon : "Above a silver shield base, inside a black bar covered with three silver capital letters P, split by red and black, at the front half a gold-reinforced silver eagle at the split, at the back a golden rosette."

Since the Middle Ages, the Ottobeuren monastery has been proven to be the landlord and court lord in the municipality. In 1748 the abbey acquired the ban on blood and with it the high level of jurisdiction. The eagle and rosette are taken from the coat of arms of Ottobeuren Abbey. The bar with the three capital letters "P" in the lower part of the coat of arms is reminiscent of the Memmingen patrician family Vöhlin , which can be proven as local rulers in Ungerhausen in the 16th century.

The draft and the design come from Freising's Theodor Goerge.

flag

The flag is black - yellow - red (1: 1: 1) striped.
