St. Mary Help of Christians (Düsseldorf-Lörick)
St. Maria Hilfe der Christians is a Catholic church in the Düsseldorf district of Lörick .
history
The parish of St. Mary Help of Christians was the fifth and last parish to be removed from the Heerdter parish of St. Benedict .
The church was built from 1952 to 1953 under the direction of the architect Heinz Thoma . The church was consecrated on May 22, 1955. For cost reasons, the construction of the free-standing bell tower that was actually planned was not built.
Due to the ongoing process of canonization of Pius X , who was originally intended as patron, the Marian Patronage Help of Christians was chosen.
The church is constructed as a steel frame structure and faced with red brick on the outside . It has three naves, although it is designed as a hall church . The effect is created by a vault in the area of the apparent central nave and by columns that visually make the edge areas appear as side aisles. The choir room has a larger incidence of light through larger windows and is located behind the chancel. The altar and choir are separated from the parish room by steps. The choir room also has a greater ceiling height, but is only as wide as the supposed central nave.
organ
The organ was built in 1959 by the organ builder Kreienbrink (Georgsmarienhütte). The cone chopping instrument has 30 stops on three manuals and a pedal . The playing and stop actions are electric.
