St. Marien (Budberg)
The Catholic Church of St. Marien is a church building in Budberg , a district of Rheinberg in the Wesel district ( North Rhine-Westphalia ).
History and architecture
The services of the Catholic parish in Budberg were held in the castle chapel of Haus Wolfskuhlen . A chapel building association was founded in 1947 with the aim of building its own church building. In the same year, the association bought the site and the mill tower from the Raiffeisengenossenschaft . With the inclusion of the mill tower, the church was built from 1948 to 1949 according to plans by the architect August Schepers. It was inaugurated by auxiliary bishop Heinrich Gleumes in May 1949 . The building was in 1955, after deletion of the chapel Bauvereines the property of the parish over. In 1985 severe mountain damage was found. A concrete belt was drawn in below the masonry; the tower was reinforced and renovated. In the same year the sacristy was expanded and the choir was redesigned.
Furnishing
- In 1978, the Mark bell foundry in Brockscheid cast three bells for the mill tower. They bear the inscriptions St. Mary , St. Viktor and St. Francis and St. Robert and St. Helena .
- In 1979 the electronic organ was destroyed by a smoldering fire . The organ building company Joseph Weimbs from Hellenthal built a pipe organ with two manuals for eight sounding registers and a sub-bass pedal until 1982 .
- The new altar was consecrated in 1987 by auxiliary bishop Heinrich Janssen .
- The furnishings were completed in 1987 with a new tabernacle, a sideboard and an eternal light .
