The church

The Evangelical Lutheran village church of St. Marien is in the Oberlödla district of the Lödla community in the Altenburger Land district in Thuringia . It belongs to the Evangelical Lutheran parish Lucka I in the church district Altenburger Land of the Evangelical Church in Central Germany .

history

The church is mentioned in the sources for the first time in 1389, but otherwise the sources are rather poor. By Einpfarrung of Unterlödla in the parish Oberlödla 1697, an extension was necessary. In 1698 it was rebuilt in the Baroque style, expanded and given its current appearance. The church was dedicated to Mary , the mother of Jesus.

The building relationship between the castle, manor and church was destroyed after 1945. The castle and the manor were demolished according to the laws in force at the time. The Marienkirche was also damaged and restored between 1949 and 1951. On the south side of the tower , the Stang coat of arms above a window reminds of the time around 1898.

architecture

The church is a three-axis hall church with a three-eighth choir , saddle roof and a church tower attached to the side. Above the mighty basement of the tower made of unplastered field stone, two further, white plastered floors rise above an octagonal floor plan. The tower is crowned by a baroque dome on which a lantern sits. A flat ceiling has been drawn in inside. Görlitz glass windows decorate the house.
