The Protestant Church of St. Markus is located in the Oschitz district of the city of Schleiz in the Saale-Orla district in Thuringia .

history

The first house chapel in Oschitz was founded by Purgold von Kospod in 1333. The church life of the community took place in Schleiz.

In 1614 the current church was built with magnificent Renaissance portals on the south and west walls. Today the west portal is simpler.

The interior is shaped by the Renaissance, the Gothic can also be felt. A mighty triumphal arch and a powerful wooden beam ceiling are among the structural features, as is the popular essay on the altar with the sequence of images The Last Supper , Crucifixion and Resurrection . The pulpit to the right of the triumphal arch has an hourglass that is still functional .

The three-sided galleries and a coat of arms of the Kospoths are also part of the furnishings.
