St. Maternus Church in Mönchgrün

The Protestant village church of St. Maternus is in the Mönchgrün district of Görkwitz in the Saale-Orla district in Thuringia .

history

The Gothic shape of the church says that it was founded later than the place (September 5, 1285), i.e. around 1300.

description

The church has a roof turret with a bell .

In 1903 the interior was renovated in various styles. The pulpit is behind the altar . On the pulpit there is a sound cover with baroque decorations made of wood. Behind the pulpit there is a leaded glass window on the right and left .

A neo-Gothic font and a pewter-cast chandelier in neo-classical form decorate the room.

The prospect of the small organ on the gallery above the entrance is decorated with biblical images and sayings.

In 1985 the renovation of the small church was completed.
