St. Michael in Fischach

The Catholic parish church of St. Michael in Fischach , a market town in the Swabian district of Augsburg in Bavaria , is a protected architectural monument .

history

The Fischach church was first mentioned in a document in 1126. The parish came through a donation in the 12th and 13th centuries. Century to the Ursberg monastery . The right of patronage had been held by the Augsburg cathedral chapter since the 13th century . In 1499 a new church was consecrated using older parts. The parish has belonged to the Dillinger Kollegiatstift since the 16th century . In 1668 the Brotherhood of the Most Holy Sacrament of Altars was founded. In 1705 the church received a new wooden pulpit. In 1730, a new choir was built and frescoed by the master mason and plasterer Joseph Meitinger . From 1753 to 1760 Meitinger redesigned the nave in the Baroque style. Instead of a wooden ceiling, a stucco ceiling was drawn in. In 1964/65 the extension of the nave began. In 1990 an extension was added to the rear of the church. In 2016 the interior was extensively renovated by church painter Peter Engelhardt.

The single-nave nave with a needle cap barrel is structured by pilasters and ends with a semicircular choir with a basket-arched ceiling. The six-story tower has a gable roof with gable tops.

The stucco work in the choir from 1730 and in the nave from 1753 are by Joseph Meitinger. The ceiling frescoes were created by Franz Martin Kuen from Weißenhorn in 1752 . In the choir they show the Mother Church adored by the four continents and in the nave the Angel's Fall . Kuen also painted the side altar paintings. Anna teaches Maria the reading and communion of St. Petrus and the Stations of the Cross in 1755/60 . The high altar and the side altars are neo-baroque from around 1948. A figure of the Archangel Michael was created around 1650. A Gothic sandstone relief in the choir shows the crucifixion .

Bells

Until 1999, St. Michael owned four steel bells from the Bochum Association from 1947. These were replaced by four new bronze bells from Perner in 2000 :
