Sari Baldauf

Sari Maritta Baldauf (nee Niiranen, born on August 10, 1955 in Kotka ) is the chairwoman of the Nokia Corporation . Baldauf completed her Master of Science in Economics in 1979 at the Helsinki School of Economics . She has been on the Daimler Supervisory Board since 2008 .

Personal history

Sari Baldauf received her Master of Economics from Helsinki School of Economics in 1979 and joined Nokia in 1983. In 1994 she was elected to the Nokia Board of Directors.

In 1998, Sari Baldauf was selected by Fortune as Most Influential Female Executive. In 2002, Sari Baldauf was named Europe's Most Successful Female Executive by the Wall Street Journal .

On December 3, 2004, Sari Baldauf announced that she had resigned from Nokia for personal reasons. Until then she had headed Nokia's Nokia Networks division. She then served on a number of supervisory boards in Finnish and international companies, including Fortum , Capman, F-Secure , Hewlett-Packard and Daimler .

  • From 2011 to 2018 she was chairman of the supervisory board of the large energy utility Fortum in Finland . This made her the first female chairman of a large Finnish company.
  • Sari Baldauf has been on the Supervisory Board of Daimler AG since February 11, 2008.
  • Since 2017 she has been a member of the University Board of Aalto University in Helsinki , Finland.
  • Sari Baldauf has been on the Nokia Supervisory Board since 2018, and has been chairwoman of the board since 2020.

Awards

The American magazine Fortune selected Sari Baldauf in 1998 as the most important female leader in Europe. In 2002 she was ranked 14th among the best women in the world rankings. The Wall Street Journal awarded Sari Baldauf the title of most successful female leader in Europe in 2002. The Finnish finance and business magazine Talouselämä named Sari Baldauf Finland's most influential female manager in 2004 and 2011. In August 2012, Sari Baldauf was ranked sixth among Finland's greatest business thinkers on the list of Thinkers 20 for the Nordic Business Report.
