history

The communities of Fahr , Gönnersdorf , Hüllenberg and Wollendorf , which were still independent at the time, sought to establish their own church center at the beginning of the 1960s. In 1963 an application was made to the Diocese of Trier to raise these parts of the community to a separate parish. This request was granted by the diocese leadership. In 1966 these communities were then merged together with the deserted Rockenfeld to form the large community of Feldkirchen , whereby the communal community was again congruent with the parish. On June 9, 1965, Dipl.-Ing. Hansjoachim Neckenig received the order to plan the parish center. On June 12, 1966, the foundation stone was finally laid. The church was consecrated on December 17, 1967. The first bell was consecrated in March 1968. In 1984 the church and the tower received a comprehensive renovation of the concrete and a new coat of paint. In 1989 the parish church got two new bells. In 2008 a photovoltaic system with 128 solar cells was installed on the roof of the church . So far, St. Michael is the only church in the Diocese of Trier with a solar roof.
