Location of Wollendorf in Rhineland-Palatinate |
Wollendorf is a part of the Neuwied district of Feldkirchen in Rhineland-Palatinate . Wollendorf was an independent municipality until 1966.
history
The village was built around a noble, castle-like fortified mansion, the so-called "castle", of which the foundation walls are still preserved today. The cellar vaults are said to date from the 11th or 12th century. In 1840 the half-timbered superstructure and the round tower were removed down to the stump that is still standing today. The "castle" was first mentioned in a document in 1202 in the deed of foundation of Sayn Abbey with Ministerial Arnold von Wolvinsdorp. This sex seems to have died out as early as 1269.
The "castle" has been rebuilt and expanded many times over the centuries and is now a residential building. In court files from the 13th and 14th centuries, the lords of Wolvindorp are mentioned several times in slightly different spellings . Therefore, it is also assumed that the name Wollendorf has a connection to the wolf or the family name Wulfilo.
Wollendorf formed together with the districts driving , Gönnersdorf , Hüllenberg , rock field and Rodenbach the Parish Feldenkirchen (formerly also Veltkirgen), named after the 1200 built in the current form field church .
Incorporations
In May 1966, following a majority decision by the local council at the time, the previously independent community of Wollendorf was merged with neighboring communities to form a large community under the historical name of Feldkirchen. The order of the Koblenz district government came into force on August 1, 1966. Feldkirchen belonged to the office of Niederbieber-Segendorf (from 1968 Verbandsgemeinde Niederbieber-Segendorf).
In the implementation of the administrative reform decided by the Rhineland-Palatinate state parliament on July 13, 1970, which came into force on November 7, 1970, the municipality of Feldkirchen was dissolved and assigned to the "New Town of Neuwied". Thus Wollendorf came to the city of Neuwied as part of the Feldkirchen district.
