Location of Rodenbach in Rhineland-Palatinate |
Rodenbach is a district of Neuwied in Rhineland-Palatinate . Until 1969 the place was an independent municipality under the name "Rodenbach bei Neuwied".
location
Rodenbach is located northwest of the city center on the edge of the Rhine-Westerwald nature park . In the northeast is the Segendorf district , in the east the Niederbieber district . Today's Rockenfeld desert lies north of the village. It is certain that this place was the nucleus of the American entrepreneurs John D. and William Rockefeller . Many of the people who live in Rodenbach today still live under the name Rockenfeller.
history
Rodenbach is the documented oldest district of Neuwied. The name is mentioned for the first time in 773 when a certain Engilbertus donated it to the Lorsch monastery . This mention is also the oldest mention of the Engersgau : " in pago Angerisgowe in villa Rodenbach ". Later Rodenbach passed into the possession of the Wiedischen manorial power . Also mentioned in a document is a former Uff dem Hahne estate , the location of which is unknown today. The awl Schul is still preserved on the village corner today. There is a restaurant in the village, the Gasthaus Zum Ochsen , as well as a farm shop with an attached cafe, the Lämmerstübchen . Formerly there was a café, an inn, a bakery, a butcher, two grocery stores and a hairdresser in the village. The inhabitants of Rodenbach are commonly referred to as "Rudebacher Ochse". There are different explanations for this; the most probable is that citizens of Rodenbach drove with ox carts to the Sunday mass in Feldkirchen. The place is still evangelical today. However, there is also evidence of a relatively large Jewish community from the 17th century onwards. The boys' association commemorates the fallen or missing members on a plaque in the Buchbachtal.
Rodenbach community
Rodenbach belonged to the parish court of Feldkirchen and until 1806 to the county of Wied and from 1784 to the principality of Wied-Neuwied. In 1806 Rodenbach came to the Duchy of Nassau and in 1815 to the Kingdom of Prussia . Under the Prussian administration, Rodenbach became a municipality in the registrar's district of Neuwied , which belonged to the administrative district of Koblenz and from 1822 to the Rhine province and was administered by the mayor's office in Heddesdorf . The noble special status meant that, with the exception of sovereignty, military and tax matters to which the Kingdom of Prussia was entitled, the community and its inhabitants continued to be subject to the Princely Government until 1848. Since 1946, Rodenbach has belonged to the then newly formed state of Rhineland-Palatinate . In the course of the Rhineland-Palatinate territorial and administrative reform that began in the mid-1960s , Rodenbach was initially incorporated into Niederbieber-Segendorf on June 7, 1969. With the “Eighth State Law on Administrative Simplification in the State of Rhineland-Palatinate” of July 28, 1970, which came into force on November 7, 1970, today's town of Neuwied was re-established. By resolution of the Neuwied City Council on January 22, 1971, both Rodenbach and the Niederbieber-Segendorf community became districts of Neuwied, each represented by a local advisory council and a local councilor. The Middle Rhine Limes ran through today's village at the level of Oberdorfstrasse.
