location

The building is located in the core town of Ludwigsfeld in Margeritenweg 1a . The federal motorway 10 runs to the north and Ernst-Thälmann-Strasse to the east . The area is not fenced in .

history

Although the core city was built between 1750 and 1753, the surrounding communities, which were still independent at the time, were in some cases significantly more important. It was only with industrialization that the core city's demands grew and with it the desire for its own sacred building . Due to the Second World War , however, there was no new building. This was only carried out in the years 1953 to 1955 according to a design by the church building councilor Winfried Wendland . The consecration took place on May 8, 1955.

Building description

View from the west

The building was essentially built from brick , which was plastered flat except for a base . The choir is straight and has not moved in. At the transition to the gable is a panel with a cross. A sacristy is added to the north, which is optically integrated into the building with a towing roof . It has a rectangular floor plan and can be entered from the north via a pressed segment arched gate. On its eastern side is a pressed-segment arched window. There are two tall windows on the south side of the choir.

The two sides of the nave are symmetrical. At the eastern end there is a high window, followed by two segments each with two windows arranged in pairs, between each of which a buttress provides stability. The nave has a simple gable roof , which is covered with beaver tail .

This is followed by the church tower to the west. In its lower area it takes up the full width of the nave. There are two small windows on the north side, a gate and a window on the south side. The building can be entered from the west through a large portal. Above it is an ox-eye in the gable . A bell cage attached as a roof turret was executed in half-timbering . There is a sound arcade on each of the four sides, with a pyramid roof with a cross on top.

At the transition between the choir and the nave there is a wooden cross on the south side.

Furnishing

The church furnishings are modern. The altar panel shows the crucifixion of Christ , on the left the temptation and on the right the fight of Michael with the dragon. It comes from the German painter Gerhard Olbrich . The crucifixion scene depicts a Wehrmacht soldier who is interpreted by a church leader of the parish as a “warning and criticism of any form of tyranny”.
