It was built in 1678. In 1820, the year the parish of St. Johann Baptist was founded, it was demolished without permission and rebuilt on a larger scale. In 1926, a reconstruction based on the model of the Gnadenkapelle in Altötting was finally carried out . On the night of April 24-25, 1944, the chapel burned down completely during the bombing of World War II. On December 10, 1955, after the reconstruction, the consecration of the altar could take place.
