St. Nikolai (Schmalförden)

The Church of St. Nikolai is located in the Schmalförden district in the Lower Saxon community of Ehrenburg in the combined community of Schwaförden in the Diepholz district . It is the church of the Evangelical Lutheran. Parish of Schmalförden-Neuenkirchen, which belongs to the church district of Grafschaft Diepholz .

The early Gothic hall church is made of brick and has a square choir . It dates from the third quarter of the 13th century, while the presented, plastered west tower, which has corner teeth made of stone , is dated to the year 1755. The slender pointed arch windows are staggered in groups of three, the choir gable is richly decorated.

Inside the church, the walls are intricately structured by cross vaults , multi-tiered wall templates , thin ribbon ribs , ogival belt and shield arches and round arch niches .

The octagonal, chalice-shaped font comes from the 2nd half of the 15th century, the pulpit and organ from the 17th century. The crucifix was designed in 1952 by the wood sculptor Wilhelm Kunst .
